About Slow Food Northern Ohio

Slow Food is a non-profit, eco-gastronomic, member-supported organization that was founded in 1989 to counteract fast food and fast life, the disappearance of local food traditions and people’s dwindling interest in the food they eat, where it comes from, how it tastes and how our food choices affect the rest of the world. Today, we have over 80,000 members all over the world.

Slow Food Northern Ohio is one of 850 volunteer-run Slow Food chapters worldwide. Our mission is to foster awareness and appreciation of Northern Ohio's foods, farms and culinary traditions, new and old. We host programs and events that celebrate local, seasonal flavors; showcase our region's culinary talent; and strengthen connections between the farmers, chefs, producers, cooks, and eaters who make up our local food community.
